  • Biography
As a visual artist I balance a self-directed studio practice with collaboration and engagement. I have undertaken a number well received and successful artistic residencies, research-led arts projects and public art commissions, which have allowed me to develop and employ a wide range of skills in creativity and design.
In painting, the body; its multitude of functions and its relationship with the material properties of paint, are primary concerns in my work. I use it as a framework to explore the subjects of physicality and sensation. I create highly decorative, detailed and intricately patterned surfaces, fusing a myriad of references, from topographic, geographic, and diagrammatic engravings, arabesques, micrographic reproductions and cellular structures, in an attempt to explore and reflect the correlation that exists between them. In recent paintings, scenes which invoke the natural world reveal the anatomy of patterns which persist and endure throughout life.
