I’m a painter from Amsterdam. My main sources of inspiration are philosophy and art history. Themes and motifs I encounter when reading, traveling or researching, I reinterpret. Regular short excursions around Europe expose me to a wide variety of local cultures and environments that makes me realize how lucky I am to live in such an inspiring part of the world. There is such a rich visual language, and such a vast, endless amount of fascinating examples of culture and nature to be discovered. I take in as much as I can, photograph, sketch, and when home: read, and distill this proces into my paintings. I graduated from the Royal art academy in the Hague with installations and sculpture, but I am now rediscovering and redefining my practice and role as a painter. I’m working with acrylics and leaf metals on wooden panels.
