  • Biography
I am a ceramic artist hand building in porcelain to create one off sculptural works and installations using slab and inlay techniques to add imagery and pattern. A ceramics graduate of Grays School of Art in Aberdeen, l have been running my practice since 1991, and now work from my home studio in Forfar, Angus. I am a Selected member of the Craft Potters Association in London and a Professional Member of Society of Scottish Artists.

I am inspired by people and places, and create work in response to specific themes or topics to creates limited edition collections in black and white porcelain. My work is carefully crafted while also having layers of meaning to draw attention to issues that I care about. Living in a rural location, trees have become an important motif in my work, using them to draw attention to the environment. I have also adopted a “closed loop” approach to my practice where I repurposes and recycles as much material as possible from my ceramic production.

I use my signature inlay technique to add colour pattern and texture to my work and it gives me the freedom to combine different imagery to the inside and outside of my pieces, and this interplay of surfaces add depths and meaning to each collection.
