Clive Brandon is a visual artist and regenerative gardener living in the highlands of Scotland. He makes paintings, collages, photographs, books and interventions that respond to landscape, architecture and place. Constructivism and modernist architectural influences, and the pervasive impact of humankind on even seemingly 'natural' landscapes inform his practice. Moving from the city to a rural location has highlighted the contrasts but also the similarities caused by human activity in both places. He distils his visual observations into subtle, small-scale works combining collaged elements of paper, paint and found material which evoke real and imagined landscapes and environments. His work looks at how humanity has shaped, controlled, and constructed the natural world and ecosystems around us.
