Finlay McInally is a visual artist working with print, ceramics, photography and moving image. He lived on the Isle of Skye during his formative years and this experience has had a great influence on his ongoing practice: the colours he is drawn to, for instance, are reminiscent of the ones in a Hebridean landscape after it has rained, or the colours of the ever changing sky and sea. Finlay’s work explores the link between health, environment and healing. He is interested in Queer pluralities in relation to ideas of self and has created a number of personas in response to this. These ‘selves’ act as vessels for communicating new ways of being: prints acting as backdrops and ceramic sculptures providing ‘healing objects’, talisman like, that hold the potential for transformation.
