My work focuses on intimacy, kinship, comfort, touch, and connection. I am constantly investigating how we interact with one another, how we support and care for each other, and how we grow apart or grow together over time. The forms I invent - and the ways in which they interact - strive to demonstrate human feeling and empathy. My work speaks about the interconnectedness we need and yearn for. It speaks to touch and attachment. I pull inspiration from forms found in the body and in nature; I am particularly drawn to tectonic plates, rock formations, and bodies hugging.
My most recent body of work has shifted from the comfort, safety, and warmth seen in much of my past work. I have turned towards representing moments of tension, transition, in-betweenness, and the difficult parts of our intimate relationships. The work discusses the inevitability that some relationships with friends and family change. Whether we grow apart, or grow closer, relationships often shift over time. I have begun to lean into displaying tension-filled moments that invoke discomfort, uncertainty, or even excitement.
