  • Biography
I have been a practicing artist for over 30 years since graduating from Glasgow School of Art. Widely exhibited in the Paisley Art Institute, Glasgow Art Club and the Lillie Art Gallery, I am also a member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists. I exhibit and sell my work across the UK and abroad.

Drawing is enormously important to me and underpins my work. Composition and negative space is a feature in my drawings. I am passionate about colour, and especially contrasting muted and bold tone. I work in Watercolour, Oils, pastels pen and the humble pencil.

In 2021 I received a grant from Creative Scotland and have enjoyed working outdoors, drawing on street corners, to capture the life of Glasgow. During lockdown, I focussed on the southside of Glasgow exploring everyday landmarks such as parks and train stations. I love the way light reflects colour and shapes on the windows of Victorian buildings; and the soft sandstone details within the architecture are a beautiful contrast.

I am inspired by American artists Edward Hopper and John Singer Sargent, for their light filled watercolours. Scottish artist Joan Eardley has been a lasting influence on my work for her drawing, landscape and Glasgow studies. I love David Hockney’s playful approach to art and Elizabeth Blackadder’s flower paintings.
I graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1990 with a BA hons in Fine Art Drawing and Painting. After graduating I exhibited in the ‘New Talent’ exhibitions in the 369 Gallery in Edinburgh. I have received various awards over the years to support the development of my work and exhibit widely across Scotland and in London. I have been a member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists since 2018.

In 2021 I received a grant from Creative Scotland to develop my work and have enjoyed working outdoors, drawing on street corners, to capture the life of Glasgow.
