  • Biography
Kara Simpson is a digital artist who uses an engaging illustrative visual style that allows for an exploration of thoughts and feelings that can often overwhelm. She is interested in the stories we tell ourselves, whether fact or fiction, which are rooted in our personal and collective history.

For the most part, her work documents a deeply personal journey, combining individual and pop culture nostalgia to explore thoughts, dreams and memories. The unapologetically playful style gives these thoughts a soft space to sit and breathe, allowing for the possibility of reinvention. Concurrently the work invites us to become childlike again, by immersing ourselves in a surreal, otherwordly narrative whilst also challenging the notion that childhood is a time of unfettered innocence.
