I am a full time Scottish artist with 30+ years experience. I am self taught and work from my studio/gallery in Falkirk.
I paint on glass using porcelain paint and canvas, primarily in acrylics. My preferred subject matter is wildlife and birds, taking inspiration from my home set in the countryside. I also enjoy painting scapes. My work to date is detailed and lifelike however due to three autoimmune diseases, one of which is neurological my style may begin to change in order I can keep creating art. Being able to paint is very important to me and part of who I am. This change in style and subject will present a new challenge but also an exciting new journey. Who knows what's in store?
Meantime, I'll paint, adapt and learn something new. I do hope you'll join me.
I enjoy running art classes from my studio. Developing and inspiring others to explore their creativity and learn new skills. It's joyful to help others and see their work progress.
Falkirk College Art & Design- 1990.
After a year, I began working in HM Customs & Excise where I stayed for 8 years. I left and set up a small Art Business in Cumbernauld in 1998-2001.
My career then progressed through various managerial roles in Government Departments and the Rail industry until redundancy and ill health in 2015.
During this time, I always painted alongside my other roles.
It maintains my mental health and gives a sense of purpose.
As a disabled adult, I'm unsure what the future holds in terms of my long term ability to create however, I will continue to do so whilst fit and able.
