Kay Mclafferty is a Dundee-based artist exploring the intersections between computers and traditional hand-crafted methods. Through her work, she questions how digital processes shape the way we interact with the world. She uses binary code to explore the ways that language can become tangible and degrade through the artistic process. Additionally, her work often incorporates textiles and language in her native Scottish dialect to explore identity. By blending a variety of materials, Kay opens up a dialogue about the beauty of the visual aspects of technology and breaks down the traditional binary line between technology and hand-crafted methods.
