I am a Scottish filmmaker, video artist and musician based in Berlin, Germany.
I am consistently drawn to visualising the murky world of the spectral, immaterial voice and its shadows.
My first ever solo show ‘By The Light of the Moon’ narrated a journey through the morbid technological realms of the recorded human voice, where the simple tools of communication were turned inside out to reveal a foreign, uncanny texture; “ghosts and monsters all parade through a lysergic landscape that reimagines the source’s crackly recording as a shamanistic tech-fair” (The Skinny).
More recently this fascination has led me to explore the world of poetry and how well it is suited to the medium of film.
In 2024 I made a feature-length documentary film exploring the world of Icelandic poetry with the help of a local classical composer Vikor Orri Arnason, who has worked alongside Björk and Johan Johansson.
I also recently shot a short poem-film based on an ancient Scottish ballad, where the three sons of a grieving mother return to her in the form of ghostly revenants.
I continue to work daily and as a film editor and as a cinematographer, which both informs and supports my artistic work.
