Drawn to landscapes but trying to overcome the sheer immensity of the subject by breaking it down with colour, tone and form. Living in the landscape is important to me, to experience the emotions and light at first hand. I am continually evolving and developing how I work and try new mediums in order to achieve the marks and expression I want to portray.
I came from a creative family, my late father was a commercial artist, Grandmother was milliner and taught fashion design, I was encouraged by my father who allowed me to use his studio at home.
Primarily I trained and worked as a visual merchandiser for John Lewis, I worked up to designing window & instore displays. I went from there to be a retail design consultant in Asia where Adidas head hunted me to work exclusively for them in the Asia Pacific Region. On returning to the UK I studied Ceramics and Visual Arts at Bath College, I worked on organic sculptures and was encouraged to paint by by tutors.
I started making jewellery and tiaras when I had a baby, selling to boutiques and at events. I was involved in thee Cotswold Hare Trail where my painted 6' hare was chosen to be sited in Stow on the Wold. We moved up to the Highlands where I really began to paint intensively. I exhibit in the East Sutherland Art Society Summer Show and several local galleries show my work.
