I'm a Scottish artist living in North Lanarkshire. With an MA (Hons) in Fine Art from the University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh College of Art, I've dedicated over 25 years to teaching Art and Design in primary and secondary schools.
Recently, I've embarked on a new creative journey, rekindling my passion for personal art projects as I scale back my teaching commitments. My local walks through the picturesque countryside are my main wellspring of inspiration. I immerse myself in the vibrant colours, intricate shapes, diverse textures, and the unique atmosphere of the landscape.
In my art, I embrace a mixed media approach. Using a gelli plate, I craft a variety of textural papers, which I then blend with acrylic paints, oil pastels, glass paints, and tracing papers. This method allows me to infuse my landscapes with an expressionistic flair, creating depth and perspective through meticulous layering.
My landscapes are more than just visual representations—they are a mosaic of memories. Each piece captures the essence of places, colours, textures, shapes, and moods I've encountered, woven together to evoke a day’s worth of impressions. Rather than realistic depictions, my work offers a rich tapestry of recollections, inviting viewers to journey through a landscape of experiences and emotions.
Currently, I am diligently expanding my body of work with the aspiration of showcasing it in future exhibitions.
