Hanqing & Mona are UK-based artist duo. Originally from San Francisco and Beijing, they collaborate to make image-based installations in relation to sites of architectural and cultural interest.
By converting flat images into spatial objects, they use traditional analogue prints (silver gelatin print), and tangible materials (metal, timber, rice paper, etc.) to address a monochrome tone for a sense of emptiness in their work. These features are utilised for depicting the spatial subject. Meanwhile, the shape of the artwork is delicately manipulated in accordance with the exhibition site as well as its natural element such as light and shadow.
