Marcus’s practice is concerned with the overlooked and unacknowledged objects and situations that occur in our everyday urban environment. These chance encounters that arise through the action of walking are then documented through photography. The ephemeral and the liminal situations that Marcus is drawn to may be overlooked simply because they are deemed as detritus or barely regarded and then passed by many times. Through the act of painting Marcus hopes to highlight the observatory processes that happen during the act of walking and also raise the significance of this type of observation. The paintings are an attempt to create an interesting dialogue between objects, situations and their environmental context.
