30x30 Call Out

Feb 13th 2025

Our 30x30 small works section is always a popular feature in our exhibitions, for artists and buyers alike. It gives each VAS member an opportunity to have their work included in our exhibitions, and offers visitors a fantastic selection of affordable art.

This year, as we are having multiple exhibition opportunities, we are changing the system. Members can now submit 30x30 works to the entire year’s programme, making it easier to deliver and collect. VAS are able to store works between exhibitions, and members will be able to request their 30x30 works back at any point, and arrange for a collection or postal return.

The final collection of unsold works will be following the VAS Biennial in December 2025.

A maximum of five works per member can be submitted in total at the start of the 2025 exhibition season. If a 30x30 work is sold in any of the exhibitions outlined, you will be able to replenish this to have five works available for the following exhibition.

This year opportunities for exhibiting 30x30's are:

  • Borders Art Fair - March 2025

  • Dalkeith Country House and Palace - August 2025

  • VAS Biennial Edinburgh - December 2025

There may also be additional opportunities throughout the year. All VAS members are welcome to submit work, there is no selection process and no entry charge.

Each artist may submit up to five unframed works mounted on a 30x30cm board and placed in a clear plastic bag or wrapping (the work itself can be smaller but must fit within the 30x30 system). The cellophane is to protect the work, and work may not be displayed if it has not been wrapped neatly and labelled appropriately.

All works must be clearly labelled on the back with the following:

  • Artist
  • Title
  • Media
  • Price (£)

Each work should have a maximum sale price of £250, with sales commission included.

Associate and general members will be charged a commission of 40% on the sale price of work sold in the exhibition. VAS professional members will be charged a reduced commission rate of 35% on the sale price of all work sold in the exhibition. If a 30x30 is sold, you will receive notification via email, and asked to send VAS a PDF invoice with your bank details. Payments will be made within 30 days.
