We are delighted to invite applications from Scottish makers for the Visual Arts Scotland Inches Carr Craft Creative Development Award 2025. The purpose of the award is to enable artists to develop their practice to a higher level, consider innovation and introduce new materials or techniques to their existing practice.
The award includes:
A £5000 bursary for a maker.
A £2000 bursary for mentoring support whose discipline and/or professional experience would add value to the winner's practice.
A group exhibition with the shortlisted exhibition applicants in July 2025 in Edinburgh.
The opportunity to be included in the 2027 Visual Arts Scotland (VAS) Biennial at National Galleries Scotland, Edinburgh.
Up to 15 shortlisted makers will be invited to exhibit a body of current work in a dedicated exhibition at Dundas Street Gallery, Edinburgh in July 2025. Following this, a shortlist of up to five makers for the award will be selected by a panel of industry professionals, each of these will receive a £250 bursary.
The winner will be selected from the final shortlisted makers and announced during the exhibition. The winner will be invited to develop a new body of work to be exhibited at a subsequent major VAS annual exhibition. VAS will support the winner in the development of their project and promote it through their online channels and events programme.
