  • Biography
Fiona’s practice is playful and multi faceted, exploring themes of nostalgia , loss and memory through objects and materials that have a particular significance for her . She responds to found and encountered objects using a combination of different printmaking processes to explore them, using the results to direct the way forward.
There is a plan and no plan , her process starts spontaneously before experimenting and developing ideas .Her most recent body of work was sparked by the discovery of a cache of dumped broken vinyl records - this has led to a sustained period of cumulative practice - exploring themes and ideas.
Fiona is inspired by and curious about things that have reached the end of their useful life and incorporates these with images of birds, which symbolise , for her, nature’s resilience in the face of adversity and also act aa a metaphor for the inner strength and adaptability humans present when confronted with sudden change and challenges.
Alongside her artistic practice Fiona devises and delivers a wide range of printmaking workshops .
