This is my approach, by Gillian Robertson

As a photo-storyteller my Intention is always to bring visual poetry into motion using the camera.

I am out to capture life, people, people living life.

To do this I combine two essential ingredients:
1. Using sources of light to amplify ambiance, features, and colour.
2. Fostering an authentic relationship to build trust.

My priority props are three-fold: Subject | Light | Colour. My photography must speak on many levels, not least through the language of colour – such a subtle yet important indicator of cultural nuances.

None of this would happen without the trinity of Relationship | Trust | Compassion. It’s all in the relationship ignited between the photographer and subject.

I constantly hone the ability to work this double trio looking for the signature photograph that personifies the culture of Culture – in diaspora, community, the individual.

Likewise, I am also constantly in practise to refine the skilled, compassion-full, creative knack required to get it all lined up for the second it takes to activate the shutter.
This is when I bring visual poetry into motion in partnership with my camera – capturing the culture of Culture.
