Lisa Houston

I am an artist based in Ardnamurchan, a remote peninsula on Scotland's west coast. I live by the sea and the ever-changing weather brings a unique quality of light that washes over the landscape. It is the light and atmosphere that inspires me to paint.
I use sketchbooks to record lines, shapes and colours using pastels, inks and charcoal as I explore the shore and woods and then develop and refine ideas back in my studio. I produce finished pieces in oil and mixed media using elements from several sketches.
