One morning I decided to bring into existence the little boxes that were visiting me in dreams. I have always collected plants, found objects, scraps of fabric, and old photos which find in these boxes a new home. I am also strongly attracted to my studio’s velux windows to look at the colours of the Scottish sky and sea. I paint, collage, embroider, and make boxes in a process of discovery. Weaving these strands together, I explore my reaction to the remnants of the past and to the freshness and beauty of nature.

I assemble fragments of nature with found objects, to preserve and show them at the same time. They became small “cabinets de curiosités” recreating sceneries, unveiling stories that bind us to our natural world.
