Elin Isaksson makes functional and decorative hand-blown objects, and she also use the sand-casting technique to create one off sculpture using coloured shards encased in molten glass. She offers a bespoke service for interior designers and private collectors.
In 2024 Isaksson was delighted to be selected into the Homo Faber guide by the Michelangelo Foundation, showcasing her craft excellence in glass. In the same year she was commissioned to create the prestigious Scottish Album of the Year awards. As part of the awards opportunity, she will be having a solo show at the Tolbooth in Stirling, showcasing her journey in glass over the last 15 years.
Isaksson’s blown glass forms are often simple but tactile, heavily influenced by her early Scandinavian glass training at Orrefors Glass School.
After graduating from her MA in Design & Applied Arts at Edinburgh College of Art, she further trained with glass artist Rudy Gritch in Italy and at Northlands Glass Centre, with master blower Dante Marioni and Simon Moore.
Isaksson set up her own studio in 2010 and she is now based in Dunblane were she also lives with her family.
She sells her glass direct from her workshop, online and through galleries in the UK. She is very passionate to keep the craft alive and teaches glass blowing classes to the public and often assists professional artists and design students to realise their ideas in glass.
