After completing an engineering degree, and working briefly in high-tech manufacturing, I took a career diversion into antique restoration and conservation – and subsequently into sculpture and creative industries.
I am far from prolific as a creator, and the current catalogue of my works is limited to just a handful of pieces - all of which have deep resonance and emotional impact, usually echoing characteristics of familiar items of antique furniture.
Since 2014, I have exhibited and lectured predominantly in China, and my works are now in museum and private collections in Shanghai, Beijing and Tianjin, as well as London and Los Angeles.
Now based in Edinburgh, my most recent work has shifted from an opulent palette of metals and moulded leather, to focus on a much more humble but fascinatingly storied and unpredictable material: reclaimed timber. The forms, however, are undiminished in their grandeur and striking presence, and continue to have an air of timelessness which is oblivious to the whims of fashion.
